Even though we live in a time where man can marry man,woman can marry woman and both can have families with children,nudity is still looked upon as if it was a scary monster.During the last few weeks I have been taking stock of some of the social networking sites and seeing which allow a degree of nudity and those that dont.Of course they roll out the “it’s not permitted as there are minors” line and delete anything that they think is unsuitable.For me I tend to tailor the photos so a name or word covers the offending body part but still some get deleted.Netlog for example, after allowing image 1 (below) wouldn’t allow image 2.

Both are so similar but i got the reason for image 2 being deleted as “You are naked in this picture. I am sorry but such photos are not allowed on Netlog”.Facebook,Myspace,Twitter,LinkedIn all allow such photos where as e academy ask me to deleted and Badoo made them unusable as a profile pic by relegating them to a private only folder.I deleted my accounts on both almost immediatly.After talking to Ernest (an octogenarian) at the Prested Hall swim yesterday evening its clear to see how silly people can become when faced with naturists or naturism.He mentioned various instances he has had in the past and we all agreed its these people who have a big problem not us naturists who enjoy the simpler way of life.Another instance I had was on Friends Reunited after posting a thread about naturism.After leaving a few posts,answering a few questions and adding a link or two, to various sites i started getting replies like “Can u do naturism up a tree ” “Are you allowed to wear a hat” and various other childish remarks.They fail to grasp that naturism is in no way sexual,saucy or rude and these comments only tend to belie the insecurities and body issues these people have about themselves and which most naturists don’t have.
